| Hotel Ville sull'Arno Lungarno Colombo Florence Firenze 50136 Toscana Italy | The first historical news of the 'Villa di Bellariva' dates back to the 1400s, when the family of Dante Alighieri gave it to a group of painters who, guided by Giuliano di Jacopo, turned it into an art workshop. The villa is located on the right bank of the Arno river, along the old path where the Florentines used to go for a relaxing stroll in the country. Towards the end of the 19th century it was rented by the Tommasis, a family of painters from Leghorn, who turned the villa into a center for art studies. Here the main Italian Impressionists and Post-Impressionists could find a place to get together and exchange ideas in a friendly environment. Among others, Giuseppe Abbate, Silvestro Lega, and Tommaso Signorini stayed there, finding the inspiration for their work in that peaceful place. Over the years, the wish to combine the old structure with the requirements of a modern and comfortable hotel brought about some relevant architectural changes; Now the Hotel Ville sull'Arno consists of small buildings that harmonically merge with the original mansion from the 1400s. | |

Della 'Villa di Bellariva', situata sulla riva destra dell'Arno, nei luoghi delle antiche passeggiate campestri, si hanno le prime notizie storiche nel 1400, quando dalla famiglia di Dante Alighieri pass+¦ ad una compagnia di pittori capeggiata da Giuliano di Jacopo che l'adib+¼ a bottega d'arte. Verso la fine dell'800 venne affittata dalla famiglia dei pittori livornesi Tommasi che ne fecero un ospitale centro di ritrovo e studi d'arte dei pi+¦ noti artisti macchiaioli e post-macchiaioli. Vi soggiornarono tra gli altri Giuseppe Abbate, Silvestro Lega e Tommaso Signorini che in questo asilo di pace trovarono motivo d'ispirazione. La volont+á di coniugare l'originaria struttura con le esigenze di un moderno e confortevole albergo, ha condotto, nel corso degli anni, a rilevanti interventi architettonici; oggi l'Hotel Ville sull'Arno si presenta come un insieme armonioso di bassi edifici che affiancano la quattrocentesca colonica. | ||
